Hi, I’m Melissa.

I’m the person behind Mel Eats Well, a place for food, place, and the stories between them.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I’m usually thinking about what’s in season, wandering a farm stand, adding new plants to my garden, or going down a rabbit hole about an ingredient I suddenly need to know everything about.

I’ve also lived with some sort of combination of reflux, burning mouth, and allergies for years, which means the way I eat sometimes looks a little different. I started exploring lower-acid food because I wanted to feel better without making food feel clinical, restrictive, or boring. I still want beautiful dinners, interesting ingredients, great restaurants, and food with a story behind it.

So that’s what you’ll find here: lower-acid recipes, Pacific Northwest food and places, seasonal discoveries, and whatever else I find interesting enough to write about.

I’m not really interested in creating content for the sake of creating content. I’d rather tell a good story, share something genuinely useful, or introduce you to something you might not have noticed otherwise.

Thanks for stopping by!
